Dr. Waseem El Seesy, the eminent urosurgeon whose passion for years has been Egyptology, gave us an amazing presentation on medicine in Ancient Egypt. Only to discover that whoever said that our land is the mother of all lands (Om El Donia) wasn't exaggerating because our civilization was the mother of all civilizations in the world.

Many important directions were discussed which will help our two incoming leaders achieve success in the endeavors of our club in service to humanity.

World Kidney Day Symposium

On the occasion of World Kidney Day, Rotary Club 6th of October Shams hosted Dr. Tarek Fayad, Dr. Mai Hassaballa, Dr. Dina Abd El Lateef, Dr. Gamal Saadi, Dr. Mohamed Abou Elghate, Dr. Magdy Mossad, from Kasr El Einy hospital and the Egyptian Association for Prevention of Kidney Disease, who all spoke from their different medical points of view about the reasons for the spread of kidney disease and the importance of awareness for prevention. The meeting was also graced by Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Minister of Housing and Urban Development who wrapped up the symposium by highlighting the large amount of work done by the government to provide clean water and sanitation to villages and rural areas.

Club members learnt more about alternative medicine. Our speaker was Dr. Heba Haddara, who being a medical doctor, supplemented her qualifications and knowledge by alternative medicine, and that became her first practice.

Fundraising presentation by Azza Koura

The very professional, Azza Koura gave us, a most informative presentation about fundraising for NGOs in a joint meeting between RC October Shams, RC 6th of October and RC Sheikh Zayed. We found out how fundraising is indeed a science, art and has to be coupled with strong ethics. Many avenues and ideas were discussed.

Live in Harmony with Food presentation by Dalia Omar

Rotary Club of 6th of October SHAMS hosted a very charming guest speaker, Dalia Omar, the certified Fitness and Integrative Nutrition Health Coach. Dalia's presentation about Nutrition dealt with living in harmony and healing our relationship with food. Our young lady speaker emphasized about quality nutrition rather than quantity , clean eating and drinking, inspecting quality of food is a key for good health. She emphasized that every time we eat or drink we either fight disease or feed disease. Dalia mentioned the new concept for Integrative Nutrition.

A day to remember… On a warm sunny Friday noon , the 13 th of January,our Rotary Club members enjoyed a lovely outing on Le Marquise- Grand Hayyat boat which sailed along the beautiful banks of the River Nile . Rotarians together with their friends and families spent a memorable day enjoying music , delicious food , tombola prizes, celebrating birthdays of two club members Sohaila Omar and Ahmed Abdeen.

Tour n Cure for a world free of Hepatitis C Presentation by DR. Sherif Diab

Dr. Sherif Diab , Medical Manager at Pharco Pharmaceutical Company enlightened the club members about the Tour n Cure program which brings to Egypt Hepatitis C patients who are unable to get treatment in their countries either due to long waiting list or overpriced treatment ,for the treatment and cure of their disease while enjoying a 5 star touristic experience. He also explained their role in providing well priced and affordable treatment to Egyptian nationals through their organized campaign.
